Just learned that the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) today issued its 6 to 3 affirmation of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, thereby allowing 16 million Americans to keep their health insurance and untold millions of others to obtain health insurance in the future, even when they are already sick (have a “preexisting condition).
When I was recuperating from a cracked 7th cervical vertebra in 1975, the Michigan Supreme Court, my board of directors back then, voted 4 to 3 to wish me a speedy recovery. I’m kidding – that is not true. All 7 members of the Court were very supportive. I only engage in that bit of kidding to exaggerate what I consider to be the fundamental issue; that is, until we as a nation agree that every human being has a right to access, yes, affordable health care – until that happens we’ll probably have more split decisions from SCOTUS. And yes, every human being includes those dilfobs who game the system.
You know, the people ahead of you in the checkout lane in the clothes that are nicer than yours and driving the car that is newer and more expensive than yours and using food stamps – those dilfods.
Do everything to catch and punish them, but please don’t turn your back on the fundamental mission.
